Leach, James Patrick
The funeral was held on 26th July for the late James Patrick Leach of Leftwich who died on 18th July 2006 aged 92 years. James was born in Knutsford the fourth son of six boys to Patrick and Elizabeth Leach. He grew up in Market Place Knutsford and attended the Roman Catholic school. On 26th March 1940 he married Blodwen Alice May at Northwich Registry Office. They settled in Lostock before moving to Leftwich in 1952. Jim served in the regular army for 18 years becoming a sergeant and was mentioned in despatches. He served in North Africa Normandy Remagen Palestine the Middle East and Dunkirk. Later Jim was employed as a shunter at I.C.I. Lostock Works. Jim enjoyed gardening playing bingo at his local the Pillar of Salt and he was an avid reader. He was a well known figure on Leftwich Estate as he went to the betting office to place his daily bet on the horses. Jim leaves his wife Alice son Jim daughters Janice and Susan sons-in-law Ken and Tony nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The service was held at Lostock Parish Church and was followed by interment in the churchyard conducted by Rev'd Barbara Sharp. As well as family floral tributes donations for Ward 7 Leighton Hospital were received.
