Taylor, Thomas Arthur
The funeral was held on 7th August for the late Thomas Arthur Taylor of Wincham who died on 27th July 2006 aged 88 years. Arthur as he was known was born on 3rd April 1918 to Thomas and Emily Taylor he was the oldest then Emily and Walter the youngest of the family. He was brought up in Pickmere and attended Tabley School he spent all his life in Pickmere until 6 years ago. On leaving school Arthur worked as a gentleman's fitter in Knutsford. Arthur completed his National Service in the Royal Engineers and served in Scotland Germany and was a part of "D Day". After the war he worked for Cheshire County Council on Highways. Following his retirement Arthur enjoyed a part time job at Fryers Nurseries Knutsford. Arthur was a keen gardener growing fruit and vegetables and spent many happy hours tending to his garden and sharing his produce with friends and family. He enjoyed cycling as his chosen mode of transport. Arthur was a wonderful brother and uncle and will be sadly missed by all who knew him especially his family who have lots of fond and tender memories. The service was held at Great Budworth Parish Church conducted by Rev Alec Brown prior to interment in the churchyard. In addition to family floral tributes donations were received for St Luke's Hospice.
