Birtwistle, Edwin Roy
The funeral service was held at St Helen's Church Witton on Wednesday 9th August 2006 for the late Edwin Roy Birtwistle of Northwich who died on 1st August aged 75 years. Mr Birtwistle was born in Northwich and was the middle of the five sons of the late Lilian and Edward Birtwistle. He was brought up in Winnington and attended Church Walk School. He married his wife Margaret Narath on 1st March 1952 at St Luke's Church Winnington and they settled in London Road Northwich before moving to Witton Park. During the war Roy served in the Royal Signals as a Despatch Driver. His working life was spent at Redbass Brown Parks Steelworks and for 25 years at Rolls Royce. In his younger days he enjoyed seafishing and motorbikes and latterly took a great interest in his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Margaret daughters Margaret & Ann son Paul and seven grandchildren. The service which was followed by interment at Northwich Cemetery was conducted by Rev Brian Peace. In addition to family flowers donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
