Langler, Doreen

The funeral was held on 24th August for the late Doreen Langler of Weaverham who died on 24th August 2006 aged 87 years. Doreen was born in Liverpool and was brought up with Frank Vera and Sheila in West Derby. She married Percy after the war in Liverpool and then settled in Weaverham. Their only son John was born soon thereafter. Doreen was trained as a hairdresser and owned two salons. She was a very socialable and colourful character and went on to take her hairdressing business mobile. Later Doreen joined her husband at Weaverham High School and worked as a dinner lady and after retirement she continued as the tea lady for the teachers. She will also be remembered working part time in the pub at Acton Bridge where she used to enjoy mixing with the farming community. Doreen was an animal lover and enjoyed family walks with her three Labradors. She enjoyed her holidays especially to Blackpool and to Devon also visiting her son and family in Aberdeen before her health prevented her. She was widowed in May 2004 and is survived by her son John and she was a proud grandmother. The service at Weaverham Parish Church conducted by Rev Andrew Brown was followed by committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. As well as family floral tributes donations were received for a Bursary at Weaverham High School
