Bloor, Mary Stevenson
The funeral was held on 30th October for the late Mary Stevenson Bloor of Mere who died on 22nd October 2006 aged 93 years. Mary was born in Knutsford in August 1913 the youngest of three children of the late James and Mary Eleanor Jackson. She attended Yorston Lodge School Knutsford leaving at 15 to attend a business college in Manchester. After leaving college she worked for many years as a secretary in Manchester and later at the old Knutsford Council Offices. She married her late husband Harry Bloor in 1939 settling at Hulme Barns Farm Mere where their three children were born. In 1976 they retired and turned the farm over to their son Anthony and daughter in law Nora. Mary was a member of the now defunct Mere and Over Tabley Women's Institute for over 50 years being a committee member Treasurer and latterly President. She was also a founder member of the Ladies Section of Mere Parish Bowling Club enjoying Crown Green Bowling for many years. She was also a member of the Ladies Circle at St Mary's Church Rostherne. She is survived by her son Anthony daughter Valerie six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The service at the Parish Church of St Mary Rostherne was followed by interment in the churchyard conducted by Canon N D Rogers.
