The funeral took place on 27th November for the late Clifford Hurstfield the dearly loved husband of Jean who died suddenly on 15th November 2006 aged 84 years. Clifford was born in Goostrey in 1922 to Thomas and Gladys Hurstfield; he had an older brother Harry and a younger sister Betty. He attended Goostrey School and upon leaving joined the family bakery and shop in the village. Clifford married Jean Massey in 1947 and for most of their married life lived in Goostrey only moving to Holmes Chapel in 1999 when Clifford's health deteriorated. He was previously a keen gardener and an expert chrysanthemum grower winning several trophies. Photography and involvement in the local amateur dramatic society were amongst his other interests. Sadly in Clifford's later years he suffered with severe osteoporosis and was virtually housebound but he loved to tell willing listeners about Goostrey and Holmes Chapel and interesting tales of his early years which he recalled in perfect detail. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Clifford leaves his wife Jean and nephews and nieces. Revd Paul Mason conducted the service at St Luke's Parish Church Holmes Chapel prior to committal at Altrincham Crematorium.
