A Service of Thanksgiving was held at Davenham Parish Church on Monday 27th November for Diana Jennings (née Wilson) following her death on 20th November 2006 aged 68 years. Born in Sunderland the older of two girls Diana was brought up in Sunderland. She attended Sunderland Girls' High School before taking up a career in teaching. She trained as a teacher in the Lake District at Ambleside. She married in 1961 in Sunderland soon after graduation to Ian Jennings bringing up a family of five children Melanie Guy Myles Damian and Melissa eventually becoming a proud grandmother. Moving to various places including Edinburgh London and locations in Cheshire including Alderley Edge Prestbury Macclesfield Davenham and Knutsford her working career was mainly with Park Royal Primary School at Macclesfield for more than 25 years eventually having the responsibility of being Deputy Head and School Governor there. Diana was widowed in May 2001 while living at Davenham. Many friends and former teaching colleagues joined the family for the Service of Thanksgiving conducted by Canon Michael Walters. Private committal was held on Friday 24th November at Altrincham Crematorium conducted by Revd Rowland Crook.
