The funeral was held on 30th November for the late Betty Cooper of Hartford who died on 20th November 2006 aged 81 years. Betty or Titch as she became known was born in Weaverham to Annie and George Degville she had three brothers and two sisters. She grew up at Toll Barr Cottages Hartford and attended Hartford School. She married Len Cooper on 2nd December 1958 at Northwich Registry Office. They settled in The Green Hartford before moving to Thorn Lane where she lived for 48 years. Sadly Betty was widowed in 1969 and was left to bring up their nine year old daughter she did a brilliant job. As a young girl Betty had a milk round with a horse called Tommy she also worked at Beeley's Café Hartford. Later in life she was a charge hand at I.C.I. Winnington following that she had various cleaning jobs one of which lasted for 33 years. Betty was a homely person and a devoted mum to her daughter Wendy with whom she enjoyed shopping trips. Her main interest was feeding wildlife including foxes badgers and a Woodpigeon she called Willy. She also loved her garden especially in the springtime which was her favourite and she couldn't wait for it to arrive. Betty also liked riding her bicycle she was known in Hartford Village as the lady with the bicycle which she rode for many years. As she cycled through the village she always stopped to chat with the people she met and will be very sadly missed by all who knew her. Betty is survived by her daughter Wendy brother Alan also nephews and nieces. The funeral at Hartford Parish Church conducted by Revd David Hyndman was followed by interment in the churchyard. As well as family floral tributes donations were received for R.N.I.B.
