The funeral was held on 24th January for the late Violet Pickering of Weaverham who died on 15th January 2007 aged 82 years. Violet Dutton was born in Davenham and had three brothers two of whom pre-deceased her. She grew up in Davenham where she attended school. Violet was married to Thomas Pickering on 22nd December 1946 in Davenham they settled in Middlewich before moving to Weaverham. Sadly Violet was widowed in 1977. Violet had various jobs; she worked as a cook at Abbeyfields Society Darwin Street as store detective at Redman's store and as a mid-day assistant at Wallerscote School. She enjoyed cooking knitting and doing crossword puzzles. Violet leaves her son John and daughter Jane four grandchildren and two great grandchildren also her brother Frank. The service was held at Weaverham Methodist Church and was followed by interment at Gorstage Cemetery conducted by Rev'd Richard Towle. As well as family floral tributes donations were received for Gleavewood Residents' Comfort Fund. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service Northwich.
