The funeral has taken place for Alexandra (Lal) Stockton of Hartford and latterly of the Grange Nursing Home Winsford who died on 11th February 2007 aged 96 years. Alexandra known as Lal was born on 22nd January 1911 and spent her early years in Castle with her parents Sam and Susan Smith. Lal was the youngest of four children; Sam Bert and sister Norah. Following her mother's death in 1926 she was brought up by her sister Norah and they moved to Greenbank. Whilst living there she met Harold Stockton who lived nearby and they married in December 1936 at Holy Trinity Church Castle. On moving to School Lane Hartford Lal was never far away from her family; sister Norah lived next door with brother Bert on the other side. Whilst raising her family Philip who was born in May 1940 and Paul in July 1950 Lal was an active member of Hartford Women's Institute and Hartford Women's Electrical Association she was also a member of the P.T.A. committee as parents' representative at Sir John Deane's. Lal enjoyed reading embroidery flowers and gardening with Harold. In the 60's she also enjoyed foreign touring holidays and following Harold's retirement in 1971 they became keen caravanners travelling around Europe. Lal enjoyed her family and liked to entertain her grandchildren on their visits. Her son Philip died in 2002. A dearly loved mum nana and aunt she will be greatly missed by son Paul daughter in law Cyn and grandchildren Chris Rich Julie Lesley Sue Mark and Vicky also nephews David and Bob. She will also be sadly missed by the staff and residents of Winsford Grange Nursing Home where she lived for 11 years after a short time in Middlewich. The service at St John's Parish Church Hartford was conducted by Rev'd Mike Smith prior to interment at Middlewich Cemetery.
