Connor, Ethel

Funeral report for the late Ethel Connor The funeral has taken place on 19th January 2009 for the late Ethel Connor who died 7th January aged 101 years. Ethel was born in Harpurley, Manchester and came to live in Northwich at an early age. She attended Victoria Road School and won a scholarship to Winsford Verdin High School. On leaving school she worked as a shop assistant in the town for six years then became an accounts Clerk at Broadhurst & Co, Gadbrook. Ethel married John Connor in February 1943 at St Wilfrid’s R. C. Church, Northwich, but sadly was widowed in 1956. During World War II she was employed at Northwich Station in the Goods Office as an accounts clerk. Her interests included sewing, knitting, baking for her family & friends, reading books from the library and watching television. The funeral mass held at St. Wilfrid’s R. C. Church, Northwich, was followed by interment in Rudheath Cemetery. Father Patrick Munroe was the celebrant. Family flowers and donations for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice and Crossways Nursing Home were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
