Funeral report for the late Audrey Moores The funeral has taken place on 17th April 2008 for the late Audrey Moores née Kirby who died 6th April aged 87 years. Audrey was born in Romanes Street, Castle, one of four children, on 6th July 1920. From the age of 2 she was cared for by her grandmother and grandad Robinson after her own mother, Marion Kirby died. She met Frederick Ronald Moores, better known as Fred or Mick for short, and they were married on 29th January 1938 at the Parish Church, Northwich. She worked during the war at a munitions factory in Wigan fitting parachutes, then later at Broadhurst’s Bakery, Buckleys Cleaners and Cassons Shop. When retired Audrey spent many happy years with Fred at their caravan in Wales, later moving there together to a bungalow where she remained, sadly losing Fred after 22 months. She was a great friend to have and was blessed with wonderful neighbours and friends, to name but a few - George & Jane, Dorothy, Donna & David, Olive, Sophie & her fabulous main carers from the Michael Phillips Care Agency, Angie & Carol without whom she wouldn’t have enjoyed her bungalow and independence so much. Audrey is survived by her 5 children, 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren (with one on the way) and 2 great-great grandchildren (with 2 on the way). The funeral service held at St Helen’s Parish Church, Northwich, conducted by Rev’d Malcolm Cowan was followed by committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. Family flowers were received and donations for The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Bone Marrow Fund. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
