Funeral report for the late Betty Bannister The funeral was held on 13th May 2008 for the late Betty Bannister née Rayner, who died 3rd May aged 90 years. Betty was born in Comberbach to the late Ellen Victoria & Harry Rayner, the second youngest of seven children, having two brothers and four sisters. She was brought up in Comberbach, and attended Comberbach Primary School and Winnington Park School. She married Frederick Bannister on 6th June 1942 at Great Budworth Parish Church, settling in Comberbach where she remained all her life. Sadly Betty was widowed in August 2006. In 1932 she worked as a hairdresser in her sister Florence’s salon in Rudheath, before training as a Tracer of Engineering Drawings. This led her to the Drawing Office at I.C.I. Winnington. In her early years Betty enjoyed dancing at The Winnington Rec. where she would travel to on her bike. She enjoyed helping everyone around her, the company of family & friends, which involved cooking for all who needed to be fed, driving the car, shopping and sewing. Betty is survived by her daughter & son Julia & Robert Bannister. The funeral service held at Great Budworth Parish Church, conducted by Rev’d Alec Brown, was followed by interment in the Churchyard. Family flowers were received and donations for St Luke’s Hospice. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
