Funeral report for the late Geoff Clarke The funeral was held on 23rd February 2009 for the late Geoff Clarke, who died 4th February aged 80 years. Geoff was born in Barnton to Uel & Mildred Clarke, the eldest of two children having a younger sister Jane. He attended Barnton Primary School and Verdin Grammar School, Winsford. He was a farmer all his life, starting with his father at Townfield Lane Farm, Barnton then moving to Forest House, Oakmere. He met his future wife, Sheila (née Fryer) when they were both members of Northwich Young Farmers. They married on 12th April 1955 at St John’s Church, Lostock Gralam. They lived at Melvyn Home, Penny’s Lane, Rudheath, then when Sheila’s father retired, he took over at Bank Farm, Green Lane, Wincham. They later moved to Hall Lane, Wincham where they remained. Sadly Geoff was widowed in December 2008, just seven weeks before his death. His interests included horse racing, following the Cheshire Hunt, country life, bowls and the Free Masons. He also served on many committees including Wincham Parish Council and the Cheshire County Show since it re-started in 1977. Geoff is survived by his children Phillip, Judith & Nigel, son-in-law Stuart, daughters-in-law Suzanne & Wendy, grandchildren Daniel, Michelle, Hannah, Charlotte, James & Emma, sister Jane and brother-in-law Graham. The funeral service held at Lostock Gralam Parish Church, conducted by Revd Barbara Sharp was followed by committal at Altricham Crematorium. Family flowers and donations for Cancer Research UK and Lostock Gralam Parish Church were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
