Joyce, also known as Joy, was born in Winnington on 28th January 1921 and as a baby moved to Green Villas in Hartford, where she grew up in a close and loving family; she had one elder sister Ruby. After attending Hartford School until she was 14, she went to work at Hankinsons the Tailors in Northwich, where she trained to be a tailoress. They married on 5th December 1945. Shortly after they moved to Thorn Lane, Hartford where they spent many happy years. Sadly sister Ruby died at 60; they were inseparable until then. Joyce worked at Bratt and Evans in Northwich until her retirement. The latter 40 years were spent in Hodge Lane, Hartford, where many more memorable years were spent with her family, who during this time, had moved next door. Joy loved her holidays, especially to Menorca, with her family; she also enjoyed reading and her garden. Joyce was sadly widowed in May 2000. She was able to remain at home with the help of her family and caring carers. She was a very close family person and was so proud of her grandsons; she will be very sadly missed.
