Funeral report for the late Thomas Edward (Eddie) Roberts The funeral was held on 16th March 2009, for the late Thomas Edward (Eddie) Roberts, who died 8th March aged 80 years. Eddie was born in Lostock Gralam to Kezia and Thomas Roberts, one of five children having two brothers and two sisters. He lived first in Griffiths Road then the School House, School Lane, Lostock Gralam. He attended school in Lostock Gralam and Rudheath. He had been involved in the church from an early age, having been a server and sacristan at Lostock Church. He was also both treasurer and secretary of Lostock Youth Club. He first met his wife Joan (née Rathbone) at the infant school where he was the brides groom and she was the bride in the local church féte. They married on 4th August 1951 at Lostock Gralam Parish Church, settling in Northwich where he took on roles in Northwich Parish Church serving as a Sidesman Recorder and Church Warden. His working life started as an apprentice joiner at ICI Lostock, moving on to be a Cost & Bonus Surveyor. The second half of his working life was spent at A.J. Monk & Co. He was involved in the Northwich & District Stroke Club having been Treasurer and at the time of his death was Chairman. One of his greatest loves was still using his hands as a joiner making gifts for family and friends for their houses and gardens. Eddie is survived by his wife Joan, sons Stephen & Martin and grandchildren Charlotte & and William. The funeral service held at St Helen’s Church, Northwich, conducted by Rev Malcolm Cowan, was followed by interment in Northwich Cemetery. Family flowers and donations for Northwich & District Stoke Club were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
