Funeral report for the late Brenda Isabelle Mary Williams Brenda was born on Chester Road, Castle on 21st May 1918, the eldest of three children having two younger sisters Margaret & Sheila, who pre-deceased her. After a period in Sydney Street she moved with her mother and father to Cromwell Road, Winnington. Brenda met and married Llewelyn Thomas Williams, settling in Winnington Lane, Northwich where they remained for over 65 years. In her early years she worked for ICI, Winnington as a secretary and for Murray Smith Chartered Accountants, until Llewelyn took up the position of Branch Accountant at the Westminster Bank in Northwich. In those days wives of bank officials were not allowed to work. Brenda brought up her son David and was an exceptional and devoted mother. She made friends wherever she went and was very proud to have attended Sir John Deane’s Grammar School. She was a life long friend of Lady Rochester and through her spent many years supporting and collecting locally for the NSPCC and received two special citations for her voluntary work from The Board of Trustees of the NSPCC for her exceptional contribution to the charity. She also collected for the RNLI. Brenda in her more active years joined as an interested volunteer for the Electrical Association for Women, at the time an organization sponsored by Manweb to promote electrical safety within the home and to provide bursary monies for lady electrical engineers. She was a founder member of the local Wednesday Club and maintained life long friendships with many local people of Hartford, Northwich and surrounding districts. She supported and attended the Congregational Church, now United Reformed Church, Castle and supported St Luke’s Church, Winnington. She spent many years caring for sick relatives and was always there for friends with problems. Over the last 16 years, since Llew’s death, Brenda’s quality of life had been poor and she had been cared for by her son David. She celebrated her 90th Birthday at the Park Royal Hotel, Stretton on 21st May 2008. A truly remarkable lady and mother who despite very serious health never gave in. Brenda is survived by her son David. The funeral service held at St John’s Parish Church, Hartford, conducted by Rev’d George Agar, was followed by interment in Hartford Churchyard. Flowers were received and donations for NSPCC. Arrangements George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
