Funeral report for the late Peter Blackhurst The funeral was held on 25th July 2008 for the late Peter Blackhurst who died 18th July aged 79 years. Peter was born at The Holdings, Northwich, to Harry & Ethel Blackhurst, the second child of four children, having three brothers. He was brought up in Northwich and attended St Johnís C.E. School, Rudheath, Broken Cross C.E. School and Rudheath Secondary Modern School. He married Nancy on 19th December 1959 at St Helenís Parish Church, Witton, settling at first in Greenall Road, Northwich before moving to Huxley Street, Castle, and finally to Middlewich Road in October 1963, where they remained. Peter did three years National Service, serving in Aden and Egypt. He served his time as a baker at Batters, Northwich and Aredales at Lostock Gralam before moving to ICI, Wade Works where he worked for thirty six years until early retirement. His interests included pigeon racing in his younger days; racing with Rudheath Flying Club, fishing locally; being a member of the Joint Angler Association & Davenham Fishing Club and supporting Northwich Victoria Football Club. Peter is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Susan, twin sons David & Ian, son-in-law Paul, daughters-in-law Mandy & Marie, grandchildren Laura, Chloe, Samantha & Daisy, brother Norman and sister-in-law Betty. The funeral service held at St Helenís Parish Church, Witton, conducted by Revíd Barry Jobber, was followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium.
