Funeral report for the late Billie (Lilian) Snowdon The funeral was held on Wednesday 11th June 2008 for the late Billie (Lilian) Snowdon née Allison who died 1st June aged 92 years. Billie was born in Sheffield to Thomas & Nellie Allison, the youngest of three children having a brother Eric and a sister Olive Johnson née Allison. She was brought up in Sheffield where she also attended school. She married Graham Snowdon on 8th April 1939 at Sheffield. They settled there for a while until during the war, due to Graham’s postings they travelled around. In 1945 they bought a café in Gaskill Avenue, Knutsford (Snowdon’s Café). They left Knutsford in 1955 and moved to Sark for three years where Billie worked as a housekeeper. On their return to England they lived in Bedfordshire where she ended her career running a company hotel. Billie returned to Knutsford in 1974 after Graham’s death in 1973. Her interests included needlework, cooking and reading. Billie is survived by her daughter Diana, son-in-law Ken, two granddaughters and a great grandson. The funeral service and committal held at Altrincham Crematorium were conducted by Rev’d Canon Michael Walters. Family flowers were received and donations for Christie Hospital.
