Funeral report for the late Winifred Mary Robinson The funeral was held on 15th April 2009, for the late Winifred Mary Robinson née Anderson, who died 5th April aged 86 years. Winifred was born in Norbury Street, Northwich on 3rd April 1923, to Ernest & Harida Anderson, moving to Middlewich at an early age. She trained to be a nurse at Northwich Infirmary and Stoke City General, becoming a SRN and staff nurse. She was a midwife in London and gained an Industrial Nursing Certificate at Manchester University. She was then employed by ICI at Winnington as Nursing Sister. She was a Theatre Sister at Bidulph Grange with Sir Harry Platt Orthopaedic Surgeon, then a Night Superintendent at Kendal Hospital before moving to The David Lewis Centre for Epilepsy at Warford as Matron. She later became Matron at Alderley Edge and remained there for 30 years. She married her husband Norman in 1975, both having been married before. Winifred is survived by her husband Norman and step daughter Jane. The funeral mass and committal were held at Altrincham Crematorium. Father Patrick Munroe was the celebrant.
