KNUTSFORD GUARDIAN Funeral report for the late Frank Herbert Cookson JP The funeral was held on 4th September 2008 for the late Frank H. Cookson, who died 26th August aged 86 years. Frank was born in Worleston, Nantwich to Henry & Elsie Cookson, the eldest of four children having a sister Jean and brothers Henry & John. He was brought up at Green Butts Farm, Spurstow and attended Bunbury Boys and Nantwich & Acton Grammar School. He married Rachel on 19th April 1951 at St Mary’s, Acton settling at first at Agden Brook Farm Before moving to Spring Farm, Heatley where they remained. In the early days Frank’s social life centred around Beeston and Nantwich Young Farmers Clubs, being chairman of Beeston YFC in 1948. He served in the Home Guard during the war and was a member of Lymm Rotary Club for over 40 years. He was also a member of Altrincham National Farmers Union, a great supporter of the Cheshire Agricultural Society and Cheshire Farms Competition; winning Supreme Champion Farm in 1985 and a keen supporter of Manchester United Football Club. He served as a magistrate in Trafford for 18 years and farmed with his three sons. Frank is survived by his wife Rachel and children Anne, Frank, Susan, Tony & Peter. The funeral service held at St Mary’s Parish Church, Rostherne, conducted by Rev Dr R. Cavagan, was followed by interment in Holy Trinity Churchyard, Bollington.
