Obitutory Joyce Singleton The funeral has taken place of Joyce Singleton of Weaverham who died peacefully at home on August 10th,, following a long illness. Joyce was born in Weaverham in March 1926. She had a younger sister Esme who emigrated to Australia in 1970, Joyce enjoyed the many visits from her sister and family. Joyce lived in and around Weaverham for all of her life meeting her husband Bill at the local dance in Weaverham’s Church House. She married at 19 years old in 1945 at St Mary’s Church. Joyce and Bill enjoyed their 63 years of marriage celebrating many family occasions. Joyce was an active member of the Weaverham Rose Fete and the Weaverham Horse Show committees. She was a member of the Weaverham W.I. and St. Mary’s Church. Joyce started her early working life at 14 years training as a confectioner at Bealeys on Castle Street. She later joined ICI at Winnington, Mond House and Brunner House in their Distribution department as a credit controller. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her close family. She travelled to many places in Europe. Her main interests included knitting, embroidery and tapestry. She was an avid piano player. She will always be remembered as “a smartly dressed, lovely lady, who always had a ready smile and always interested in helping others.” She leaves husband Bill; two children Hazel and Brian; a daughter in- law and son in- law; four grand children and four great- grand children The service held at St. Mary’s Church in Weaverham on August 18th was conducted by Reverend Andrew Brown and Reverend Ron Biggin followed by internment at Gorstage Cemetery. Family flowers were received and donations to McMillan Nurses, Northwich Victoria Infirmary and The Russett School. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
