Fuller, Dorothy Beatrice

Funeral report for the late Dorothy Beatrice Fuller Knutsford Guardian The funeral was held on 7th July 2009, for the late Dorothy Beatrice Fuller née Forster, who died 24th June aged 92 years. Dorothy, or Dot as she was known, was born in Winnington to Grace & Arthur Forster, the elder of two children having a younger sister Jean. Northwich was a favourite place of hers and her knowledge of its history was quite extensive. She married Walter Fuller in September 1939. A marriage that lasted 64 years until his death in 2003. Their only son John was born in 1942. They moved to Garden Road, Knutsford in the early 50’s and in 1955 to St John’s Road. After moving to Knutsford Dot had several jobs in the town, the first one being at Seymour Mead’s grocers shop. She then moved to the Co-op and finally Hal Whittaker’s toy shop. She eventually, and reluctantly, retired from there in her 70’s. She was a member of local groups and clubs over the past years, including the Thursday Club and the Co-op Women’s Guild. She also liked to be involved in local projects, one such event was the proposal of building a big supermarket next to the police station, which of course was Booth’s. Dot and Walter were very opposed to the plans and were seen on TV protesting about the proposals. Despite the protests Booth’s was built and has almost become a focal point of the town. Dot became one of its most frequent shoppers and it fondly became her “corner shop”. She was a well known and respected individual in Knutsford. She loved walking and socializing and until the loss of her sight was an avid knitter. She also over the years had won awards for her knitting skills. She was such a well known figure in Knutsford town and will be sadly missed by so many including of course her son & daughter-in-law John & Barbara, grandchildren Jake, Matt & Tom and sister Jean. The funeral service held at Knutsford Parish Church, conducted by Dr Thain Flowers, was followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium. Family flowers and donations for East Cheshire Hospice and Mount Pleasant Nursing Home were received. Arrangements by Dodgson’s Funeral Service, Knutsford.
