Funeral report for the late Ian Sandbach THE funeral has taken place of Ian Sandbach (Sandy) of Comberbach who died on 18th June with his loved ones around him at St Lukeís Hospice, aged 55. He was born in Knutsford and spent his childhood years in Rudheath, attending Victoria Road Primary School and Rudheath High School. On leaving school, Ian took up an engineering apprenticeship at Linotype, Altrincham; before joining the Merchant Navy. Ian returned to solid ground to take up employment at Brunner Mond, where he remained for a number of years before joining Powergen, latterly known as E-on, progressing to North-West Maintenance Manager. Ian married Stella (nee Coulter) on 5 July 1980 at St Lukeís Church in Winnington, and enjoyed 29 years of happy marriage. Ian enjoyed match angling, competing at a National Level. Ian also enjoyed watching football and was often found on the touch line supporting many local teams, in particular those his son, Michael played for. Ian and his family enjoyed many walking holidays in the Lakes and the Dales with friends and latterly spent time travelling further afield with his wife, visiting Goa, Thailand and the Caribbean. Ian leaves wife Stella, children Carly and Michael, and brother Tony. The service was held at St Maryís and All Saintís Church, Great Budworth, and donations were received for St Lukeís (Cheshire) Hospice. The Reverend Alec Brown officiated and committal was at Altrincham Crematorium.
