Simpson, James Francis
Funeral report for the late James Francis Simpson (Jim) Northwich Guardian The funeral has taken place on 3rd December 2009, for the late James Francis Simpson (Jim) who died 23rd November aged 75 years. In Jimís early years he attended St Wilfridís School and was an alter boy at St Wilfridís RC Church, the same church he would marry his wife Glenys later in life. He did his national service at Catterick and served as a PT Instructor. He had a great love of sport and was very active in his younger years playing football and swimming in competitions. He also enjoyed cycling around Cheshire with his friends in a local cycling club. The main sporting passion of his life was to go and watch Manchester City FC. He had been attending games for nearly seventy years, firstly going with his own father then taking his own son and nephew and eventually his grandchildren. As he got older he developed a love for fishing. He served on the committee for both Barnton and Northwich Anglers Association. He was very proud when Northwich presented him with life membership for his services to the club. He also took a great interest in Winnington Avenue Youth Team because of family connections and used to love help putting the goalposts out and getting ready for the match. The biggest passion in his life would undoubtedly be his family. He particularly enjoyed family gatherings and parties where he could mix and talk with all his family and close friends. He enjoyed his holidays and when the children were small he and Glenys took them on family camping holidays in Anglesey. He was thrilled to go to the USA with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be a huge loss to his family and friends but he will be remembered with love and a great deal of affection by those close to him. Jim is survived by wife Glenys, children Peter & Mandy and grandchildren Laurie, Robyn, Connor and Adam. The funeral service held at St Wilfridís RC Church was followed by interment in Barnton Cemetery. Father Patrick Munroe was the celebrant. Family flowers and donations for NSPCC were received.
