CYRIL THOMAS CLARE The funeral has taken place of Cyril Thomas Clare of Barnton, who died on 26th January 2010 in Leighton hospital aged 88 yrs. Cyril was born in Grappenhall, Warrington and was educated at the Bluecoats School. He went on to join the RAF, serving his country during the Second World War and was posted to Cairo in the Middle East. He was awarded The Star, the Africa Star, the 39-45 Defence Medal and the 39-45 War Medal for his service. In 1948 Cyril married his first wife Hannah [Nancy] who he lived with on Springfield Crescent, Barnton. He worked for many years at Greenwood’s Menswear in Northwich, and as a manager travelled throughout the northwest of England. After Nancy’s death Cyril later married Cathy who in turn passed away in 2000. In 1978 Cyril became a committed Christian and was often to be seen on the streets of Northwich, around the Leicester Street area, preaching the gospel to passers by. His faith was his passion and even in his late seventies Cyril went out to Jamaica where he was involved with preaching and baptisms in many villages, the children all getting to know him as uncle Cyril. The funeral service and committal held at Walton Lea Crematorium were conducted by Pastor Andy Webb. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Services, Northwich.
