Robinson, Ike

The funeral has taken place of Isaac Arthur Robinson who died 4th May 2010 aged 92 years. Ike was born in Lower Withington, Nr Macclesfield, the youngest son of Rose & Sam Robinson having three brothers and two sisters. He attended Lower Withington School. On leaving school he trained Gun Dogs at a local kennels. He was in the army for six years, after which he worked as a coal man at Stubb’s in Holmes Chapel. He married Elsie Rimmer in 1939 at Byley Church, settling at first at Stublach Cottage, Byley before moving to Lilac Cottage, Allostock. They had a daughter Barbara. Sadly Elsie passed away in 1967 aged 51 years. He worked for ICI at Holford Brine Fields for 27 years until his retirement. He was also a ranger at Shakeley Mere and spent many years looking after Byley Churchyard. He married Evelyn Moston in 1982 and moved to Lach Dennis. They enjoyed many holidays and days out with his extended family and friends. They both loved gardening. Sadly Evelyn passed away in 1993. Ike had many hobbies including clock & watch mending, watching football & snooker and jigsaws. He was a member of the New Evergreens Club and loved animals. Ike leaves his daughter Barbara, two grandsons, five great grandchildren and some really good neighbours and friends. The funeral service held at Byley Church, conducted by rev Liz Woode was followed by interment in the churchyard. Family flowers and donations for Byley Church were received.
