The service was held on 18th May for the late Fred May of Rudheath, who died on 6th May 2010, aged 74 years. Fred was born in Hooker Street, Castle to parents Tom & Hilda May, he was the middle child, having a sister Gwyneth and his brother David, who pre-deceased him. Fred was brought up in Castle where he attended school and was a member of the Church choir. He married Joan Corker on 28th March 1981 at Zion Street Methodist Church, Castle and they lived in Rudheath. Fred was in the R A F, stationed at Compton Bassett and Blackpool. He was employed by Joseph Parks and Son, Northwich as a craft apprentice training officer and later he became an inspector. He also worked for Securicor until his retirement. Fred enjoyed ballroom dancing, Crown Green Bowling with the Blind Club and he spent many holidays both abroad and in this country with Joan. He leaves his wife Joan, step children Raymond, the late Derek, Marolynne & Christine and his sister Gwyneth. The service was held at St Helenís Parish Church, Northwich and was followed by interment at Rudheath Cemetery, conducted by Revd Malcolm Cowan.
