Bond, Sydney

The funeral was held on 3rd June 2010, for the late Sydney Bond, who died 23rd May aged 85 years. Syd was born in Weaverham to Leonard & Ada Bond, their 3rd child having two sisters Dorothy & Elsie and a brother Raymond. He was brought up in Weaverham where he also attended school. He married Jessie on 14th May 1949 at Lostock Green Methodist Church settling at first in Lostock Green before moving to Lostock Gralam where they lived for 56 years. The last three months of his life where spent at Davenham Hall Nursing Home. He joined the Royal Navy as a Medic serving in Singapore, Japan and France. He later worked as a butcher at Barlow’s, Hormbrey’s and Beddard’s before going to work for Shell UK, Winsford as a Depot Manager for 20 years until his retirement. His interests included water colour painting, gardening and doing magic tricks. He was a life long member of Lostock Green Methodist Church. Syd is survived by his wife Jessie, nieces and nephews. The funeral service held at Lostock Green Methodist Church, conducted by Rev Hilary Howarth was followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium. Family flowers and donations for Lostock Green Methodist Church were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
