The funeral was held recently for the late Arthur Penny of Northwich who died on 23rd June, 2010 aged 91 years. Arthur was born in Winnington to Robert & Rosa Penny; he was their youngest child, having an older sister Beatrice Alice, who pre-deceased him. Arthur was brought up in Winnington where he attended the local school; the family later moved to Davenham. In 1944, Arthur married Ivy Howard at Barnton Parish Church. They settled in Fleetwood, as he worked at the Shipyard there. Later they moved to Barnton, then Northwich, as he was employed by Yarwoods at the shipyard in Northwich. Arthur also worked at British Rail in Northwich. Sadly Arthur was widowed in 1995. His interests included playing bowls, doing crosswords and visiting National Trust places of interest. Arthur leaves his children Sandra, Robert & Annette, grandchildren Suzanne, Joanne, Nicola & Christopher and great grandchildren Adam & Daniel. The funeral and committal were held at Altrincham Crematorium, conducted by Mr Steve Grant. Floral tributes and donations for Cancer Research UK were received.
