The funeral was held on 5th August 2010, for the late Joyce Cross née Eaton, who died 29th July aged 88 years. Joyce was born at Lane Ends Farm, Marston to John Bradford & Esther Eaton, the youngest of four children having had two elder brothers and a sister. She was brought up in Marston and attended Marston Primary School and Miss Harris’s Boarding School, Sandbach. She married Geoffrey Cross on 1st September 1948 at London Road Methodist Chapel, settling at first in Bradshaw Brook, Allostock before moving to Lostock Gralam where they lived for 30 years then finally to Chapel Street, Wincham where she remained for 30 years also. Sadly Joyce was widowed in 1989. She worked at home on the family farm until getting married then worked with her husband Geoffrey running the family haulage company G. Cross & Sons (Northwich) Ltd. Her interests included baking, cooking, politics and she always maintained an interest in the family business now run by her sons. She was a long time member of Great Budworth Chapel until its closure then attended Great Budworth Church. Joyce is survived by her sons David, Peter & Robert, daughters-in-law Penny, Val & Margaret and dearly loved grandchildren Sarah, Katy, Thomas, Joe, Olivia, Helena, Matthew, Gareth, Chris & Mike. The funeral service held at Great Budworth Church, conducted by Rev Alec Brown was followed by interment in the churchyard. Family flowers and donations for Kidney Research UK & Great Budworth Church were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral service, Northwich.
