The funeral was held recently (19th October) for the late Joan Nixon of Cuddington who died on 9th October 2010 aged 71 years. Joan was born in Blackpool; she was the eldest of three children born to Emily and George Glencross; having a brother Peter and sister Jennifer. Joan was brought up in Salford and then Holmes Chapel; she attended Tootal Drive Primary School, Weaste and then Crewe Grammar School. Joan married Albert Edward Nixon on 17th March 1962 at Holmes Chapel Methodist Church, they settled in Cuddington. Sadly she was widowed in 2004. Joan worked in the Histology Lab for ICI at Alderley Edge, she was also a Mothers Help, Book-keeper / Office Manager and did voluntary work for the WRVS at Northwich Infirmary. Joan enjoyed caravanning, family history, card making, painting and reading. She was an active member of Sandiway Methodist Church and the Royal British Legion and liked to spend time with her family and friends. Joan is survived by her children Margaret, Andrew and Christine, her daughter-in-law Agata, grandchildren Jan, Milena and Olek and her sister Jennifer and brother Peter. The service at Sandiway Methodist Church was conducted by Revd Charles Makonde, prior to interment at Gorstage Cemetery.
