The funeral was held recently (12th November) for the late Joyce Smallwood of Lostock Gralam who died on 3rd November 2010, aged 83 years. Joyce was born in Altrincham. She was the eldest child of a family of three, born to Sydney Vernon & Jessie Schofield and had two brothers. She was brought up in Manchester, where she attended school. Joyce married Thomas Leslie Smallwood and they settled in Lostock Gralam, sadly she was widowed in 1980. Joyce worked as a legal secretary in Manchester before her marriage, then she became a housewife and mother. She enjoyed knitting and sewing and did charity work for The Spastics Society, now known as SCOPE, for 36 years. Joyce leaves her six daughters and a son, 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The service was held at Lostock Parish Church, prior to interment in the churchyard, conducted by Revd Barbara Sharp. Floral tributes and donations for SCOPE were received.
