The funeral was held at Shurlach Methodist Church recently (on 9th December 2010) for the late Gladys Potts of Northwich who died on 2nd December 2010, aged 91 years. Gladys was the middle child of three children born to William and Edith Hamlett; having an older sister and a younger brother. She was born in Rudheath, where she grew up and attended Victoria Road School. She married John Potts on 4th September 1946 at Shurlach Methodist Church. They settled in Great Budworth before moving to Rudheath, sadly she was widowed in April 1983. During the war Gladys was a member of the Civil Defence. Later she was employed by Murray Smith, then she worked at the new Cheshire Salt Works. Gladys enjoyed days out and local affairs. Gladys leaves her two sons and their partners, grandchildren and great grandchildren, also her brother Walter. The service at Shurlach Methodist Church was conducted by Revd Hilary Howarth, prior to committal at Altrincham Crematorium. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
