The funeral was held recently for Ethel Doris Dawson, who died on 27th December 2010, aged 82 years. Ethel was the first daughter of Doris & Sid Sawrey, she had two sisters Joan and Val; Val passed away in 1999, her brother Simon died in infancy. Ethel lived through the Coventry blitz and worked at a factory making parts for Lancaster Bombers. She met Charlie Dawson in 1948, she moved to Northwich and they married in 1950 at St Helenís Parish Church, Northwich. Ethel continued to work until her first child Ian was born in 1952, she returned to work until 1957, when her daughter Sandra was born. Ethel had a busy life working to support her family, as she was widowed in 1978. She had a good social life and met many good, close friends after becoming an active church member of The Farm of The Good Shepherd. Ethel became a Nan in 1979 when her first grandson Richard was born, followed by Matthew in 1983; both boys loved and adored her funny little ways. Ethel was loved by her sister Jeanís children Lorraine, Philip and Michael; both families will remember the laughter and memories Ethel has given them; she was much loved and will not be forgotten. The service was held at St Wilfridís Parish Church, Davenham on Wednesday 12th January followed by interment in the Churchyard. Revd Martyn Cripps conducted the service. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for Alzheimerís Society and Norton Lodge. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
