The funeral has taken place (24th March) of Eileen Lewis who died on 14th March 2011, aged 86 years. Eileen was born in Lostock Gralam, Northwich on 20th September 1924 to Thomas and Jessie Bloor. She was the eldest of two children, brought up in Rudheath with her sister Freda. Eileen attended St Johnís School, Rudheath, but her education was disrupted by frequent illness. When she left school she was employed by British Crepe, Middlewich and during the war was a welder working on Spitfire aircraft. Eileen married Cedric Lewis on 1st November 1947 at St Chadís Church, Winsford; they lived in Rudheath with their first daughter Patricia. Sadly Patricia died in August 1953, their second daughter Andrea was born in 1954. Eileen enjoyed many hobbies including knitting, sewing, cooking, reading, trips to Derbyshire and Llandudno, holidays in Folkestone and attending brass band concerts. She was also a member of the Mothers Union at St Helenís Church, Northwich. Eileen was thrilled when she was allowed onto the flight deck of the plane when flying to Sorrento on holiday. Sadly Eileen was widowed in 1992. In later years she attended Leftwich Green Day Centre where she made new friends and enjoyed joining in with the activities, especially quizzes. Eileen was very fond of animals, especially her much loved cat Sooty. Eileen moved to Newton Court Care Home in 2010, where she continued to enjoy musical entertainment, brass band concerts and visiting local garden centres. Eileen was a loving and much loved mum and will be greatly missed by her daughter Andrea; her sister Freda; her nieces and nephews and all her many friends. The funeral was held at St Helenís Church, Northwich followed by interment at Rudheath Cemetery, Revd Barry Jobber conducted the service.
