The funeral was held recently (28th April) for Colin Bentley of Pickmere who died on 19th April 2011, aged 68 years. Colin was born in Salford, Manchester to Gladys and Albert Bentley, he was the oldest son, having a brother Arnold, who pre-deceased him. Colin was brought up in the Salford area where he attended school. On 4th September 1984, he married Valerie May Hunt at Macclesfield Registry Office and they settled in Pickmere. Colin worked as a car mechanic at Drabble and Allen. He owned his own boat which he took on the River Dee at Chester and went sea fishing. Colin loved cycling and often cycled from Pickmere to Whitegate, he also liked walking, especially with his Lurcher and two Greyhounds. He leaves his wife Val, sons Craig and Gordon, daughters Christine and Susan, grandchildren and great granddaughter. The service and committal were at Altrincham Crematorium, conducted by Revd Alec Brown. Family floral tributes were received and donations for East Cheshire Hospice and Christie Hospital.
