The funeral was held recently (16 June) for Derek Massey, of Wincham, who died on 6th June 2011, aged 72 years. Derek was born at St Mary’s Hospital Manchester on 10th September 1938. He was the middle child of three, born to George and Marjory Massey, having an older brother and a younger sister. He was brought up in Sale and attended Glebelands Road Primary and Cecil Avenue Secondary School. Derek married Enid Stansfield on 26th September 1959 at Altrincham Registry Office. They settled first in Timperley, then in Wilmslow, back to Timperley, then to Wincham where they lived for over 35 years. Derek worked at Metrovics, AEI, Baldwin & Francis and retired from I.C.I. aged 53 years. He enjoyed swimming, lacrosse, playing piano and organ, art and woodwork. He was a member of Norton Owners Club, Velo Club and liked building motorbikes, amongst various other hobbies. Derek leaves his wife Enid, children Karl, Mark and Dawn and their partners; grandchildren Ben, Jack & Luka. The service and committal were held at Altrincham Crematorium, conducted by Revd Dan Young. In addition to family floral tributes, donations were received for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice and Macmillan Nurses. Arrangements by Dodgson’s Funeral Service, Knutsford.
