Jones, John 'Maurice'

The funeral was held recently (27th June) for the late Maurice Jones of Comberbach who died on 15th June 2011, aged 77 years. Maurice was born on 1st December 1933, in Comberbach, to Maurice and Elsie Jones and had an older brother Ron. He grew up in Comberbach where he went to school before attending Barnton Primary and then Sir John Deaneís Grammar School. He married Cynthia on 20th June 1959 at St Helenís Parish Church, Northwich, living in Comberbach all his life. Maurice completed his National Service at R. A. F. Grantham. He worked in accountancy; in supply and with computers at I.C.I. Winnington for over 35 years. He was interested in all sports, especially bowls, cricket and football; he loved his garden and the village community. Maurice was the senior steward at Comberbach Methodist Church for many years. He was Treasurer of Comberbach Bowling Club for 50 years and Secretary for 22, as well as being a team member. Maurice leaves his wife Cynthia; brother Ron; sisters-in-law Margaret & Ivy and brother-in-law Fred. The service was held at Comberbach Methodist Church followed by committal at Walton Lea Crematorium, conducted by Revd Duncan Ibuuri and Revd Tom Stobart. The bearers were members of Comberbach Bowling Club and many friends attended the service. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for Comberbach Methodist Church and Macmillan Nurses. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
