The funeral has taken place (11th July) of Mike Carlon of Lostock Gralam, who died on 28th June 2011, aged 70. Born in Rudheath in 1940, the second of three children to Thomas and Beatrice Carlon, living in Rudheath and Greenbank. He attended St Wilfrid’s Catholic School, at 15 he left and completed his apprenticeship at Molyneux’s as a bricklayer, 30 years he worked for Mike Whittaker, Pickmere, greatly admired for his work. In 1963 the family moved to Knutsford, then Madeley, Iron Bridge. In 1964 he married Gayna at St Wilfrid’s R.C. Church. In 1968 they moved to Alan Street, they had five children, Sharon, Michael, Jayne, Sarah & Elizabeth. He was a devoted family man. In the early nineties he met Lorraine and moved to Lostock Gralam. He loved to travel and enjoyed the mountains and lakes. For 16 years he visited the Shrewsbury Flower Show, he spent many hours making bud stands and garden furniture. He liked to celebrate with his family, particularly the Boxing Day Party and New Year with friends. Mike and Lorraine had their final “precious moment” when they married quietly at home on 13th June 2011. As Mike’s life has come to a close, new chapters will be spread through his children and grandchildren. The service at St Wilfrid’s R. C. Church was celebrated by Father Patrick Munroe, followed by committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. Family flowers were received and donations for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice and Macmillan Centre at Leighton Hospital. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
