The funeral was held recently for Gren Greenwood of Sandiway, who died on 23rd September 2011, aged 87 years. Gren was born in Liverpool to parents Arthur and Elsie Greenwood. He was brought up in Liverpool and Higher Bebington, he later attended Wirral Grammar School. On 18th July 1953, Gren married Beryl Read at Christ Church, Higher Bebington, they settled in Culcheth, Warrington, then moved to Seascale, Cumbria where they remained for 6 years, before moving to Sandiway. During World War 2 Gren was in the Royal Artillery. He worked for 25 years in the nuclear industry; finishing as Staff Manager, Capenhurst. Gren enjoyed caravanning; after his retirement, he and Beryl took their caravan to Europe on holiday; their first trip lasted five months. They travelled all over Europe, even reaching Turkey. Gren also liked photography and was a member of Probus. He is survived by his wife Beryl, son Peter, daughter Janet and four grandchildren Liz, Mike, Rachel & Joanne. The service was held at St Johnís Church, Sandiway prior to interment at Gorstage Cemetery, Revd Dr John Hughes conducted the service.
