The funeral has taken place on 31st October 2011 for the late Iris Leadbeater nťe Vince, who died on 10th October aged 88 years. Iris was born in Great Yarmouth to Albert & Louise Vince, the 7th of ten children and was the youngest girl. She was brought up and attended school there also. She married Arnold Roy Leadbeater in October 1946 at Great Yarmouth settling at first in Hartford before moving to Winnington in 1964. Sadly Iris was widowed in 1993. Iris served with the ATS from 1943-1946, training at Leicester and Manchester, followed by attachment to an RASC transport company in Chatham. She then worked at an Ordnance depot in Bicester in the store for all wireless and signals equipment. Iris also worked at a weavers for a short period, prior to being called up for war service. Then later at Eliza Leadbeaterís shop in Whitegate selling spinning wheels and supplies and the Imperial Cancer charity shop in Northwich. She was a very active member of St Lukeís Church, Winnington and the Motherís Union and enjoyed reading, knitting and sewing. Iris is survived by her children David Leadbeater, Valerie Davies & Kathryn Smith, grandchildren Michael Leadbeater, Diane Tuff, Ian Davies, Heather Davies, Lucy Smith, Amy Smith & Jessica Smith and great grandchildren Jessica Leadbeater & Emily Leadbeater. The funeral service was held at St Lukesís Church, Winnington followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium. Rev Carol Seddon conducted the service. Family flowers and donations for St Lukeís Church & R.N.L.I. were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service.
