The funeral was held recently (23rd November) for the late Miss Phyllis Hickson of Knutsford who died on 12th November aged 85 years. Phyllis was born in Knutsford; she was the younger of two children born to John and Annie Hickson. Her brother Eric pre-deceased her. Phyllis grew up in Knutsford and attended Egerton School. She spent her early childhood at the family farm, Winterbottom Farm at Mere until the age of nine when they settled in Knutsford. She worked all her working life at Shaw Heath Post Office for various owners and stayed until well after normal retirement age. Phyllis was very much the family historian and always liked to do good turns for others. She enjoyed travelling and collected stamps and coins. An active member of St Cross Church, where she was very much involved and a member of the Mothers’ Union. Phyllis leaves her two nephews Alan & Derek. The service at St Cross Church was conducted by Revd Jayne Shepherd, prior to interment at Knutsford Cemetery. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for East Cheshire Hospice and St Cross Church.
