The funeral was held recently for William Harold Cross of Weaverham who died on 22nd November 2011, aged 82 years. Harold, as he was known, was born in Northwich to Harold William and Nellie Cross. He grew up in Northwich where he attended school. He married Edith Riley at St Helen’s Church, Northwich and they settled in Beeston Street, Castle, they moved across the road, then to Chester Road, Hunters’s Hill, Weaverham, Forest Close and finally to Ainsworth Road. Harold completed his National Service. He worked at Yarwood’s Boatyard in Northwich and he was the last person to leave when it closed; he then worked at I.C.I. Harold liked fishing and was a member of Northwich Anglers and Barnton and Frodsham Angling Club. Harold leaves his daughter Rosemary and her husband Terry, son Eric, son-in-law David and four grandchildren Mark, Athene, Carole, Kirsty and great grandson Connor. The funeral and committal were held at Walton Lea Crematorium, conducted by Mr Steve Grant. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
