The funeral was held recently (12th January) for Frank Shaw of Winnington who died on 2nd January 2012, aged 89 years. Frank was born in Weaverham on 14th July 1922. He was the second eldest of a family of four boys; having brothers Eric, Matthew and Geoffrey and grew up and attended school in Weaverham. In 1951 Frank was married to Edith in Plymouth and they set up home in Millbrook, Cornwall. From 1938 until 1962 Frank was in the Royal Navy; after leaving the Navy, Frank and Edith moved to Cheshire and settled in Winnington. From 1962 Frank was employed by the Post Office as a postman, until 1984. Frank played football in his youth for various teams, including Navy teams then for teams in Northwich. He also enjoyed watching football and all other sports. He liked gardening, reading listening to music and doing crosswords. Frank leaves his wife Edith, two sons and a grandson. The service at Castle Methodist Church was conducted by Rev Pat Billsborrow prior to committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. Family floral tributes and donations for the British Heart Foundation were received. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
