Gleave, John 'Maurice'

The funeral was held recently for Maurice Gleave of Barnton who died on 6th January 2012, aged 85 years. Maurice was born in Witton Park, Northwich on 12th December 1926 to parents John Osmond and Jessie Gleave and had an older sister Betty. He grew up in Northwich and attended Witton Boys’ School. On 2nd August 1954, he married Doreen Jackson at Holy Trinity Church, Castle and they settled first in Leftwich before moving to Barnton. Maurice served with the Merchant Navy in the Far East. He worked as a baker in the family bakery, Gleave’s Bakery in Witton Street, later he was employed by I.C.L. at Winsford, assembling computers and then he was the school caretaker at Davenham C. of E. Primary School until his retirement. Maurice enjoyed football, singing, going on holiday and was a member of the Pentecostal Church, Barnton. Maurice is survived by his wife Doreen, daughter Alison, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren and daughter-in-law Lynn. The service and committal at Walton Lea Crematorium were conducted by Revd Andrew Webb. Family floral tributes were received and donations for Christian Community Ministries and Transylvanian Autism Association. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
