Holland, Nick

The funeral was held recently (30th January) for Nick Holland of Ollerton who passed away peacefully at home, on 22nd January 2012, aged 56 years. Nick was born in Manchester on 17th March 1955 to parents Elizabeth and the late John Holland. Nick had three brothers and three sisters and spent his early life on a hill farm in Derbyshire. The family moved to Lower Withington when Nick was nine years old and then later to Chelford. He attended Congleton Boys’ School and then moved to Crewe College. He married Gill Irlam on 5th April 1980 at St Lawrence’s Church, Over Peover. They spent their first year at Holmes Chapel and then moved to Heath Cottage in Snelson where Nicholas and Ben were born. In 1987 they moved to Ollerton where Charlie and Emma were born and the family still lives there today. Nick started Spinney Motorcaravans 35 years ago at Ollerton, moving to the present site in Cranage, Holmes Chapel. Nick, Ben and Charlie joined their father in the business. In his younger years, Nick loved playing football and used to play for the Dixon Arms. He also enjoyed playing polo at the Cheshire Polo Club. He loved the game and the Argentine way of life, which resulted in him buying an Estancia in Argentina, where he spent many happy times with family and friends playing farm polo with the locals. He is survived by his wife Gill, children Ben, Charlie and Emma and grandchildren Billy and Grace. The funeral service was held at St Lawrence’s Church, Over Peover followed by interment in the Churchyard. Revd Dr Jane Lloyd conducted the service. Family flowers were received and donations for The Christie.
