The funeral was held recently (10th February) for Ron Jones of Barnton, who died on 29th January 2012, aged 84 years. Ron was born in Barnton to Elsie & Maurice Jones, he was the elder of two sons, his brother Maurice died in 2011. He was brought up in Comberbach and attended Comberbach School, Winnington Park School and finally Sir John Deaneís Grammar School. He married Margaret Brocklehurst at Little Leigh Baptist Church on 1st September 1951 and they settled in Barnton. Ron was in the Black Watch Regiment for three years and he worked at I.C.I. Millbank House, Northwich. Ronís interests included table tennis, snooker, football and rugby. He loved cricket and bowling; he was Chairman and President of Meller Braggins Cricket League and the Umpires Association, umpiring until he was 80 years old. He was a past President of Arley and Barnton Cricket Clubs and Vice President of many local cricket clubs and Comberbach Bowling Club. Ron also enjoyed gardening, walking and photography and he was a Life Deacon at Little Leigh Baptist Church. Ron leaves his wife Margaret, sons Andrew & Kevin, daughters-in-law Caroline & Jane, grandchildren Gareth, David, Mark & Catriona and their partners and sister-in-law Cynthia. The service at Little Leigh Baptist Church was conducted by Rev Stella Cole, assisted by Rev Tom Stobart, prior to committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. Family flowers were received and donations for Cheshire Cricket Trust. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
