Boyd, Les

The funeral was held recently for Les Boyd of Castle who died on 16th March 2012, aged 53 years. Les was born on 19th December 1958, in Davenham to Rene and Jim Boyd. He had three brothers Derek, the late Cliff and Ken and two sisters Rene and Phyllis. He grew up in Weaverham and attended Weaverham Wallerscote School, then Weaverham High School. In September 1976 he moved to Rudheath until 1993 when he moved to Northwich, then Castle. Les worked at Winnington Hall Club until 1975 and then went to work at I.C.I. where he completed 17 years of service. He was employed as a temporary worker at Morrisonís Warehouse, before going to work at Iveco in 1993, where he was still employed. Les was Manager and player at Whitegate Football Club and played cricket for Weaverham Cricket Club, he also played football for Weaverham Youth Club in the mid 1980ís. Being an avid golfer, he joined Davenham Royal British Legion Golf Society, where he became Captain. Les was a lifelong Everton supporter, watching them both at home and away. Les leaves his brothers and sisters and his much loved nieces and nephews. Many friends and colleagues attended the service at St Helenís Parish Church, Northwich, conducted by Revd Barry Jobber, prior to interment at Rudheath Cemetery. Floral tributes were received and donations for Meningitis Research Foundation and The Poppy Appeal. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
