The funeral was held recently (11th April) for the late Stewart MacDonald of Ollerton, who died on 30th March 2012, aged 89 years. Stewart was born in Glasgow, on 7th April 1922, to Charles and Ruby MacDonald. He was the eldest child of two children, having a younger brother and grew up in Glasgow. During the war he joined the RAF and spent time in Singapore and Malaysia. In 1946 Stewart married Barbara Johnson “Johnnie” in Sheffield. He worked in personnel management for the Atomic Energy Authority which took him to Thurso in the north of Scotland and then to Cheshire. They moved to Knutsford in 1966 and he retired in 1982. He loved his family and caravanning holidays. After Johnnie died in 1994, he married Marjorie in 1995 and enjoyed another 17 years of retirement. Stewart is survived by his wife Marjorie, sons Neil and Keith, grandchildren Robert, Rachel, Victoria and Sophie and great granddaughter Catherine. The funeral was held at Marthall Parish Church, followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium, conducted by Revd Lynette Sweet.
